Western Hills Veterinary Hospital, P.A.
has been in Topeka since July of 1976. The hospital moved
into a newer facility in June of 1999 about 3-miles east of its
former location on Wanamaker Road.
We offer all services normally provided by
general practitioners and refer speciality
cases to board certified doctors at Kansas
State University or in Kansas City, Ks.
We are located at 2101 SW 10th Street which is 4
blocks west of Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
This centralized location is ideal for "drop-off's" for
busy clients working in central Topeka. We
treat dogs and cats only.
Our mission is to provide our clients
with a team approach to 'wellness'
concept of preventive medicine for
their pet, and to also perform
knowledgeable and accurate
diagnostics and therapy when
necessary.
The TEAM includes:
Dr. Larry Fischer, a 1971 graduate of Kansas State
University. Dr. Fischer was a Captain in the U.S. Air
Force Veterinary Services from 1971-3. After being
honorably discharged, he worked in Springfield,
Missouri before coming to Topeka in 1976. He is a
member of Central Park Christian Church. His black
lab, 'Reba', is the smartest dog in the world.......
Glenda is the Office Manager. Glenda is Dr.
Fischer's main squeeze--yes, she is his wife of 36
years and the mother of 3 sons, Brian, Cordell, and
Curtis. She enjoys painting and her medium is
currently watercolor. She is an avid reader.
Bethany is a newcomer to our clinic. She is dynamic
and a very hard worker with a great attitude. She
loves camping.
Betty is our professional groomer and a good
one. She spends a lot of time in washing and blowing
the coat dry. Her flare for style and symmetry gives
her a work product second to none.
Michelle is a multitasking workhorse. She works
long hours and takes great pride in her service to
clients and their pets. She gained much of her
experience in the Banfield franchise veterinary
hospitals in Kansas City. Her pet nursing and
technician skills are superb. In her mind, all of her
patients are supposed to get well and she does her
darndest to make it happen. Michelle has adopted
a new kitten--"Phineus". See a picture by
clicking "Contact Us" menu bar.

Above it an ear wax plug (cerumenolith) next
to a dime for size comparison. It was removed
from "Hans" and male Dachshund with a history
of head shaking. We use MedRx endoscopic
equipment to accomplish such tasks.
The small 'alligator' forceps pictured slid
through a channel in the otoscopic (ear)
attachment which allows the accurate removal
of debris and foreign objects.
